Conference Weekend is here.

Yes It's that time of year again. Conference weekend. I love it. No dress, no nylons, no pews. I can watch conference in my P.J.s, on the couch, with a diet coke. Now since I am the mother of two youngin's we all know that I will SEE conference, but not necessarily HEAR conference.

FACT: Conference is a total of 12 hours long including all sessions; Relief society, Priesthood, Saturday, and Sunday session. Yes, there is more than just the Sunday session for those of you who grew up like I did....being that Sunday was the only day we were "sposed" to watch.

FICTION: Conference weekend does not mean weekend OFF church. All church rules stand and that means "keep the sabbath day holy". I had a friend whose family always went to dinner conference weekend and another friend whose family always went to the lake. Jeff won't even let me get a coke from the vending machine outside the grocery store. I don't think that he thinks it's morally wrong, he just doesn't want any other members to see me.

FACT: Conference weekend is a great time to update your food storage. I always spend Saturday taking inventory and asking myself, "Who ate all the damn potato pearls"!

FICTION: There is a dress code to watching conference! Pul-eaze! I know a friend who makes her family dress in Sunday best. What? She says you can feel the spirit better this way. Ain't no spirit if Mama ain't happy, and Mama ain't happy in nylons! I think some people are keeping "points" for spirituality and I'm just trying my best.

FACT: It helps to take notes during conference to record your feelings and special quotes. It does not help to read the paper, check your fantasy sports teams, or make phone calls. Yes, I will admit that I usually find Sunday morning session is a great time to refresh my pedi but I can still listen at the same time.

FICTION: You can still listen to Conference with your eyes closed. Unless you are on the High Counsel, you have not perfected the "listening sleep". It is also a good idea to stay vertical during conference the horizontal is just too alluring.

The Forecast for Conference looks great this year. With War, Wall Street, bankruptcy, and Palin, I'm lookin' for a little good news. How 'bout you?

WHAT the CRAP MAMA Kirk? You don't like Palin?

Anyhoo, I can't believe people get in their sunday best for Conference. And I DO think its a WEEKEND OFF- because I don't have to get anybody dressed, brush anybody's hair, sneak candy out of my purse during sacrament, or pretend to feel sick so I can leave before Relief society. Yep, WEEKEND OFF!!

I love it and I agree with your fact and fiction. Luckily I updated my fantasy football team tonight and I agree with the note taking. If I take notes I remember what was said. I say go for it with the pedi though you can still listen and refresh to piggies!! I love ya chica!!

Hahaa Dee cracks me up! I still remember when her hubby cut the onesie off the baby, so it wouldn't get poop on her head!

Taking notes is the BEST thing! I learned that from you, when we mobbed it to UT to watch Conference. I was only a member for a couple of weeks back then! You were, and still are such a good example to me:)

ps you know we're on the same page with the diet coke thing.

conference in your PJ's best ever! Of course at our house that is after the Strawberries waffles have been consumed! Notes are a must, and reading them over that night gives me a kickstart to improvments that I need.

Oh, my good gosh. I love every single thing about this!!! Hooray for Katrina's Conference Perspectives! Too bad I'll miss all of today (due to my crappy retail schedule...), but can't wait for manana.

And you can totally bake while still listening, too. Just thought I'd throw that out there. :)

Getting my kids in their Sunday best would mean I would have to get up that much earlier. No thank you. Amen to pajama church!

I'm no Palin fan either! Thanks for your comment about the temple, it's so exciting to have a temple right in the heart of the Catholic heartland!

Hey Sis... First, I love the Conference post. You are awesome to love it so much. Second, I don't know how to be a "blog follower" I think it's a fluke that I am on Dee's, because I'm just not that smart. How do I do it? Help!

I love this post! I printed out those conference packets for my kids to do, and Trevor was getting ready to leave the room, and said, "Mom, will you please Tivo this?", then Garrett chimed in and said asked me to put it on pause till he gets back. Awe...future bishops ;)

By the way, I feel like I'm listening to my iPod when I'm on your blog...two of my "workout playlist" songs happen to be on your blog playlist..."American Boy" - LOVE LOVE LOVE that song, and I will admit that I have a Britney Spears song, also. Good music.

Hey Reesha you have to sign in on your blog and go to your Dashboard. There you can find how to manage the blogs that you follow. You can put your whole list off your blog of the blogs you read and put them into your blogger account. It updates you on all the new post. Also, if you look on the top by your profile there is a little person that says followers....click that and it shows a pic of who reads your blog. You'll see me :)

Good luck - now add me!

Today I was feeling like going down stairs with my Kat, getting a Diet Coke and cup o Noodles (or whatever else we got there) and then heading back upstairs for some candle time, spooning, and a little KC and Jo Jo (Baby baby baby baby baby baby baby...) Hmmm, then I remembered that I don't live in the doorms anymore- CRAP!
Miss you!
