August I returned home from my mission.
It seems like a dream.
Excuse me as I self indulge.
I am about to post a plethera of mission pictures.

Wasn't sure I wanted to stay at such a strange place.
I went in on 2/2/2000.
Groundhogs Day.
Seen the movie?
At the MTC it seems like you've fallen into the Matrix .
Everyday the same,
and then repeat,
reapeat,
repeat.
Dear MTC,
Thank you for teaching me Italian
and then letting me go.
xoxo,
Sorella Robinson

Sorella Spackman and I upon our arrival in Italy.
Sorella Spackeman once told me, "I came on my mission to get away from girls like you".
Unsure what that really meant, I assumed, she was
offended by my red nail polish, fishnets, and diet coke habit.
I can't say I blame her.
I did try to pack my bikini for sun bathing on "P-Day".

I did try to pack my bikini for sun bathing on "P-Day".

Coloseum with my MTC Sorelle.
I served in Rome for almost 10 months of my mission.
The Coloseum, Forum, Circus maximus, Arc di Triumph
all included in my first area.

Changed my life.
Sorelle sempre.
Ti voglio ben' assai!

That is Jones,
phenom-italian linguist
and my mission "Mom".
She taught me Italian,
how to laugh at myself,
and to never give up.
Transfers at Termini a Roma.
Mid mission meet up with my MTC group.
Can't explain the feeling,
We were all fighting the good fight.
I was proud to be one of them.
The people.
Oh, the people!!

My Mission;
hardest thing I ever did,
best time of my life,
miss it everyday,
feels like it was all a dream.

That is awesome! You look SO YOUNG! Fun to look back. What a wonderful place to serve too...I am sure Danny would agree.
OH -- this makes me want to go to Rome even MORE now!!! Thanks for sharing. :)
I was just looking back at my mission book about 1 month ago. I miss it too. Do you still keep in touch with many sorelle? Brough, Mantyla, Birch, and McCardell and I all keep in good touch. We all miss you out there on the West coast. If I make it out that way we should visit! I Cant believe that Spackman said that to you! I guess the mission does things to us all huh. You were such a rock star though! You served people in ways that other sorelle could not have. Wish we could have been full time comps. We would have rocked! Hope you are well. Drop me a line sometime. bellasarah80@hotmaill.com
Ha ha "I came on my mission to get AWAY from girls like you." That is a classic line and I love it.
Very cool post Katrina
I am DYING that you tried to take a bikini. I always admired you for going on a mission.
I remember {as you were packing} telling you NOT to take that bikini as well as a set of weights. Some things never change. You rock.
Ahhh...that is so tender! I think I will be like you and do that...oh...first I need to scan all of my photos! Yikes! That is a big feat! Good times!
Just to set the record straight, Sorella Spackman later apologized and we are great friends. I love her, we may be complete opposites, but she is an amazing person.
gosh, don't make me cry. it was a magical time in my life too and i definitely don't deserve such praise. even as i flew home it felt like a dream. in a moment it was over. for the record, i'm sure the spackman comment was provoked, with all that leopard print and thong talk!
ti voglio una coca cola di bene!
i'll see YOU at the dedication of our Tempio di Roma(and hopefully before then too).
Katrina, I'm so glad you shared that and I bet you're so glad u served a mission!
Thanks for sharing those pics with us. I am sure you were a great missionary. I am sure you look forward to going back and seeing the temple.
Great Pics.
When I put in my papers I was so hoping to serve in Italy... some day I will go there.
I loved your last comment and have the same feeling.
Have a great day.
I remember meeting you at Fashion Place Mall Gap just before you left on your mission and you telling me about your leopard print bras you'd just bought at Victoria Secret, and I thought, "Wait til Italy get a load of you!" What beautiful pictures!
"Girls like you" or no, I was one happy sorel' the day you came to save my butt (and chop my hair!) in Quartu. :) I've wondered how our experience together might have been different if I hadn't spent the previous 3 months in hell. Either way, grazie per tutto quello che hai fatto! Che sorella in gamba!
P.S. "I can't believe the elders saw my ovaries!!!"
I remember you wanting to pack your bikini and also a few handbags. Is that right?... or am I crazy?
What an awesome experience! I love the pics you posted... so young and adorable! I'm envious.
*o- and I remember a short plaid skirt was also trying to make it's way there.
I can't believe how young you look in these pictures!.....and PRETTY...hee hee hee :)
This fun to see. I haven't seen a few of those pictures :) And I can remember wondering why on earth a leopard print bra, a bikini, and coke would be inapropriate on a mission. I'm still wondering actually. I guess we came outta the same crazy house!
You wanting to bring a bikini on your mission is exactly why I love you so much. You do YOU and nothin' else. I love you!
I'll always remember your sparkly eyeshadow at your farwell. Jodee said it right "You do YOU like nothing else". (I need to channel some of that right now...)
I remember when I met you freshman year. "I'm going on a mission!"
"Uh, huh. SURE you are."
I sure did miss you on my wedding day. :)
Katrina, You just gave me chills with that post. Awesome pics, and awesome narrative, so sweet.
I never thought I would ever marry a returned missionary...but you were way to hot to pass up :) I know how much your mission meant to you and your love for the people of Italy and your companions. The Lord is grateful for your service no matter what your calling is because of your diligence. I am sooo excited for the day we are able to visit Italy and you can show it off to me. You are the BEST!!!
you looked so pretty on your mission...way, way, way prettier than i did...:) loved this post. it does feel like a weird funky dream that it happened sometimes right?
welcome home 8 years ago sorella!!
Oh - I'm jealous! You're the most beautiful sister missionary I've ever seen.
